"Que Sera Sera"

I am a horrible blogger. This I confess. I have started a dozen new entries, but they all seemed...too trite to publish.

2010 has already really pushed me to my limits. Frequently I've found myself on my face in prayer and seeking Him for answers, comfort and peace. I've also been "encouraged" (a nice way of putting having no other choice but) to re-find my own personal joy and peace. The amount of obstacles and curve-balls fielded already in just this first month truly makes me feel I need a spiritual Tony Horton to kick my butt straight back to where I know I need to be. In the meantime, I have praying parents, a loving, encouraging  fiance and great friends. So, with all of the negativity trying to pry its way into my life, I've decided to put my "opinionated" posts on the back-burner for a short while. Let my blog be a positive outlet, not just an opinion page for my oh so demure thoughts and theories.

Enter my "home-made cheap self therapy":

When I was a little girl, my mom sang to me all the time. Some songs were just for fun, (Mairzy Doats/Mares Eat Oats) and some were a discrete forms of "straighten up girls" ("Sisters, sisters"). While I have fond memories of the hundreds of songs my mom sang to me while rocking me after my bath, driving around in the car or belting out her Gospel as only my mother can, this year I had an old favorite take on an entirely new meaning.

A few weeks ago while driving home I started humming "Que Sera, Sera". I hadnt heard the song in years, and quite frankly, when my mom would start singing it when I was younger, the meaning somewhat escaped me. But it has quickly become my mantra for this year. I dont think very many days have gone by that I havent silently looped this in my head. It's message is calming, but it helps to have that "Momma warmth" stuck in there too. (Plus, I do love me some Doris Day.)

I've never really been one of the "whatever will be, will be" attitude. Im a "eye on the prize and don't take no for an answer" type of girl. But this month, this new found mantra has saved me a migraine or two.  I know that I am in His hands, and no amount of worrying will ever do me any good (hello Matthew 6:33-34). So I'll continue into the second month of this new year, singing, smiling, with mantra looping- choosing to be eager for the growth I know will come.

Any other mantra lovers?

"Love me or hate me, it's still an obsession."

Oh internet, for as much as I love you for keeping me in touch with friends far away, keeping me informed of the worlds happenings (and oh so important celebrity gossip), and inspiring me through other blogs; I equally dislike you for all the garbage you bring into our world.

With so many things, it begins as something harmless and after a little time goes by, people take it too far and spoil it. The best example in my book is Twitter. Fans threatening to kill themselves only to have their fav celeb swoop in to save them; fans threatening to kill and eat their cat if Miley doesn't re-join twitter; and now this... a bride pausing her wedding ceremony for a moment of silence to TWITTER (or is it tweet?)?!

Throughout all of my wedding planning, researching and inspiration scouring, I came across plenty of brides that, while I did not envision their priorities or preferences as my own, I could still see where their vision was taking them and love it as simply a reflection of them as their own couple. However this... this puts me at a loss for words. This is where my mother would have KILLED me.  If by some-chance I had managed to finagle a moment of silence into my day without my mom's knowledge,  I know that someone, if not all of the hand selected best friend posse standing behind me that day, would have knocked me over and broken my phone into pieces, successfully catapulting me into my apparently MUCH needed cold turkey intervention. The video breaks my heart.

I guess I am just not getting it. It's proven to be a pretty big deal, snagging the credit for being the most used word of 2009. Even sitcoms are being launched. Although, I will admit that some good does come from twitter. And by good I mean free gifts from people like Ellen, or being able to follow Speidi to your hearts content (to be clear, I do not follow Speidi). As a girl who has a love for following celebrity gossip, I am actually surprised to not be on this bandwagon. It's just lost on me. Maybe I'm missing out, but in all honesty, what do I have to say that's moment-to-moment so important? I semi-understand the whole getting up-to-date information as it happens with news, sports (maybe), or social updates. But for now- MSN, Perez & good old-fashioned Facebook status' will have to suffice for me.

I'm hoping it's just a super-charged fad that fizzles out as quickly as Pogs fell from their glory days.  Nonetheless, I do enjoy hearing these ridiculous Twitter stories, if nothing else but for entertainment purposes. And hearing an entire new "language" of "Twitterspeak". It's like our generations Klingon.

What do you think? Love it or hate it?
